The Growing Tree Children's Center was established in 1979 as a non-profit childcare center serving children ages 6 weeks through Pre-Kindergarten. A Board of Directors comprised of parents and members of the business community governs the Center. The Board generally meets on the second Wednesday of each month and parents and community members are encouraged to participate. The Center is certified by Child Care Division of the State of Oregon. A yearly review is conducted, including an on-site visit. Growing Tree Children's Center is in full compliance with the laws of State of Oregon and applicable administrative rules. The Growing Tree Children's Center was specifically designed and built in 1987 as a childcare facility. Each classroom provides a wide range of activities and is furnished with age appropriate equipment and furnishings. Special features include observation windows in each classroom to watch your child in action, well-fenced playgrounds, a van equipped with booster seats for field trips, on site laundry, separate staff lounge and a reception area for daily greetings and communication. Note: The center is closed on the Friday before Labor Day, Presidents Day and Veteran's day for staff in-service training.

First Presbyterian Church, based in Bend, Ore., offers a range of programs and activities for men, women, youth, children and seniors. These include adult education, Bible study, book study, prayer groups, Monday men s book study, listening hearts, Tuesday morning women s Bible study, centering prayer, garden preschool, youth group and logos for middle school. First Presbyterian Church also offers several community-based outreach programs including happy learners preschool, quilters, friends of Jesus, Presbyterian peacemaking program, anti-hunger action, local food banks, family kitchen, interfaith volunteer caregivers, habitat for humanity, adult mission trips to Guatemala, Cuba and Middle East, mission partnership giving and theological education fund.
