Dogs for Better Lives, formerly known as Dogs for the Deaf, is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been training and placing assistance dogs since 1977. With campuses in Central Point, Oregon, and Falmouth, Massachusetts, they are the oldest provider of Hearing Assistance Dogs in the United States. Their mission is to professionally train dogs to help people and enhance lives, offering free placement of service dogs to deaf or hard-of-hearing adults, children diagnosed with autism, and licensed professionals working with vulnerable communities.

Dogs for Better Lives acquires dogs through partnerships with breeders, co-ops, shelters, and rescues, providing them with expert training to assist individuals in regaining safety, independence, and connection to the world around them. They are unique in their approach, as they train both purpose-bred dogs and shelter dogs to become service dogs. With no application fees or good faith deposits, they ensure that their services do not create a financial burden for their clients. Through the support of outstanding donors, Dogs for Better Lives is able to offer these amazing dogs at no cost to their clients, making a difference in people's lives without any financial barriers.
