Deschutes Community Development

The Community Development Department is managed by Deschutes County in Oregon. The department manages a building safety division that issues commercial, residential, septic, and electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits. It also operates a current planning division that handles individual land use applications. The Community Development Department administers an on-site program that provides wastewater treatment and dispersal solutions for homes, as well as protects groundwater aquifers. In addition, the department manages a long-range planning division that prepares population forecasts, amends county regulations, and reviews and participates in actions proposed by other public agencies. The Community Development Department offers inspection services for restaurants and food preparation facilities.
