History

Calabash Authentic was born out of desire from the Temple family to share their home and culture with the Portland community. In Sierra Leone, Madeleine's cooking skills were well known amongst her community. Her only son, Julius, often spent time with his mother, Madeleine, and grandmother, Violet, in the kitchen learning and honing his own cooking skills. Quality time turned into a passion and to this day you can find Madeleine and Julius cooking for just about any family or friends event. Many people told Madeleine and Julius that they needed to open a restaurant and/or start a catering business and their dreams have now become a reality
