27500 E Timberline Rd
Government Camp, OR 97028
The Blue Ox Bar is open for the winter and summer seasons only. Tucked away just behind Timberline Lodge's main lobby, the Blue Ox Bar is a favorite watering hole steeped in history and tradition. This cozy hole-in-the-wall offers a comfortable reprieve from a day on the mountain - a warm place to grab a slice and a brew. Once you find the Blue Ox Bar, you'll find it hard to leave! Timberline Lodge was built in 1937 by Oregonians of the Depression Era under the WPA. The Lodge was nearly finished when it was noticed that there was no bar. Improvising architects altered a space designed for wood storage to create the Blue Ox Bar. The recently restored glass mosaic murals illustrate the well known Paul Bunyon legend and his beloved blue ox, Babe. The Blue Ox Bar menu features hand tossed pizza and other delectable snacks in a cozy lodge atmosphere. Thirsty? Try a handcrafted microbrew from the Mt Hood Brewing Co or a signature Blue Ox Bar cocktail.
