Baker Food Co-op, established over 40 years ago, originated as a small buying club in 1976 to ensure a regular supply of natural bulk foods at wholesale rates. Initially known as "Greater Baker Foods," the store transitioned to "Baker Food Coop" upon relocating to 2816 10th St. in Baker City. Over the years, the Co-op's growth necessitated additional moves, leading to its current location at 2008 Broadway St. in 2010.
Despite its expansion and incorporation, Baker Food Co-op remains true to its founding principles, with a committed team of over 100 working members among its 5,000 strong membership. The Co-op's core mission endures - providing cost-effective natural foods to the community of Northeast Oregon, all while holding regular board and membership meetings to uphold its values.
