Stratford Housing Authority
The Stratford Housing Authority (SHA) is a quasipublic corporation established in 1943, operating independently from the Town of Stratford while being regulated by the Federal U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Connecticut State Department of Housing (DOH). Its mission is to provide safe and affordable housing to low and moderate-income individuals, senior citizens, and families.
The Authority manages 514 elderly and family apartments and assists an additional 285 families through the Federal Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) in private apartments within Stratford and surrounding areas. Additionally, SHA is contracted to manage over 1,100 apartments throughout the greater Bridgeport area, administered by the Connecticut Department of Housing and its agent, J. D. Amelia and Associates, LLC.
