Sharpe's Department Store

Sharpe s Department Stores began as Sharpe Dry Goods in 1913 in Checotah, Okla. Louis Kerre Sharpe established the company. In 1918, upon returning from World War I, Sharpe bought out his partner, Walter Brumley, to gain sole ownership of the business. He made a point of selling high-quality clothing at some of the best possible prices in his store that he dubbed "the House of Better Values." From its humble beginnings, Sharpe Dry Goods has grown to its present total of approximately 25 stores, now known commonly as Sharpe's Department Stores. The company is one of the oldest family-owned corporations chartered in the state of Oklahoma. It has outlet stores throughout the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. The stores carry a variety of clothing by such brands as Carhartt, Key, Laredo Boots at Texas Boot, Lee Jeans, Levi s, Round House and Wrangler. Sharpe s Department Stores is headquartered in Checotah.
