After spending most of their life on the water with their family, in a drag boat, ski boat or later on a cruiser, early in 1998 Mack and Janis Magruder bought Hi-Lift Marina, located on Drowning Creek on Grand Lake of the Cherokees. Owning a marina has been a dream for Mack, even from childhood. Recognizing that Hi-Lift was over 40 years old and that a change in direction for the marina was needed if it was to succeed. Early plans included a remodel of the facility and a projection of 10-fold growth in revenue. Boat sales are critical for the success of any marina. To be successful the addition of a quality line of new boats was considered essential. At the time Mack and Janis bought Hi-Lift they had a 34' Rinker Cruiser and knew then and still know that Rinker is the best boat value available anywhere. The choice to pursue the purchase of the Rinker line of boats was an easy one. The hard part was to convince the owner of Grand Lake Boat Sales, which was the existing Rinker dealer for our area, to sell. In late 1999, after a year or so of negotiations, they purchased Grand Lake Boat Sales. Since that first year our boat sales have quadrupled. There are over 150 Rinker dealers worldwide. During the last two years Grand Lake Boat Sales has been in the top 10 in sales and during the last three years the No. 2 rated dealer for service and overall customer satisfaction. Rinker Boat Company has been in business since 1945 and is the No. 2 manufacturer of 25' and over stern drive fiberglass boats. We are exceptionally proud of these awards, and will continue working to become No. 1 in sales, service and customer satisfaction. We are continually looking for ways to expand and improve our operation. Several years ago, in our continued efforts to expand our services, we began looking for a quality ski towboat line to offer our customers. After evaluating several quality boat lines, we decided on Tige'. In our first year of selling Tige' we were Rookie of the year in sales and service, and No. 1 in market share sales in our market area. To compliment our full line of Tige' Boats, a first rate Board Shop (The Edge) was opened at Hi-Lift Marina. In addition to a complete line of wakeboard merchandise, wakeboard lessons from some of the very best wake boarders has been made available. We at Grand Lake Boat Sales and Hi-Lift Marina understand our customers come to the lake with their families and friends to relax and enjoy the boating experience, with little or no inconveniences. It offers panel connection jaws and thermal breakers with tin-plated copper stab connections. The company operates a boat dock store that provides aluminum stands, replacement panels, breakers and receptacles, and lighting and electrical components.
