Ozark National Wildlife
Ozark National Wildlife in Colcord, OK is a refuge established in 1986 to protect and aid in the recovery of federally listed threatened and endangered Ozark species. Spanning over 4,300 acres across nine units in four counties, the refuge is off-limits to visitation but allows hunting in designated areas. Education and research are conducted by permit only to preserve the fragile ecosystem, including the rich underground species protected by cave gates.
The refuge is home to rare species such as the Ozark big-eared bat, gray bat, and Oklahoma cave crayfish, all of which are fully adapted to their unique habitats. Ozark National Wildlife works with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the benefit of the American people.
