Oklahoma is a state in the South Central region of the United States. The name of this state comes from Choctaw words, okla & humma meaning "red people." It is bordered by Kansas to the north, Missouri to the northeast, Arkansas to the east, Texas to the south, Colorado to the northwest, and New Mexico to the south. Oklahoma is a state prone to severe weather, with regions including the Great Plains, Cross Timbers and U.S Interior Highlands. The Oklahoma economy depends on natural gas, oil, agricultural products, aviation, energy, telecommunications and biotechnology. Many of the cities in this state have old world charm, built on the wealth from the oil industry of the 1900's. Oklahoma's stretch of Route 66 a must see when traveling to the state, with many historical museum and quirky tourist stops to experience.
