I went into medicine because I wanted to help people navigate their health care journey. Treatment plans and health care in general can be overwhelming, so educating and empowering patients interested me. I chose gynecologic oncology largely because of its longitudinal nature. I follow patients from diagnosis to surgery, chemo, remission and then surveillance onwards. Developing those relationships is important to me. I'm most passionate about empowering my patients to make the health care choices best for them and collaborating with them to help them realize those choices. I first developed a love for medicine when I was growing up. Early in my childhood, I heard my mom and her friends talk about their fulfilling and rewarding careers in health care and it was with that, along with my love for science, that made me pursue a career in medicine. I find it really rewarding helping people. I think the most gratifying part of practicing medicine is the ability to make such a positive impact on a patient's quality of life as well as the opportunity to continue to learn and grow throughout your career. I'm very passionate about following the patient throughout their whole journey, starting from the diagnosis to considering different treatment options, to performing the surgery, and then following up on them post-operatively and throughout recovery and being able to see the positive changes from that journey.
