A great place to worship I felt welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. There was a family atmosphere and everyone was very friendly.

First Baptist Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma, was established shortly after the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889, originally founded as a Baptist church for black individuals by Rev. H.P. Wigley and Rev. A. Turner. Over the years, the church has grown significantly, evolving into a community-focused institution with a variety of ministry programs aimed at serving all ages and addressing social issues within Guthrie.
Under the leadership of Rev. Hersey L. Hammons Jr., First Baptist Church continues to be an active participant in the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., and the Oklahoma Baptist State Convention. With a mission to minister to the community and spread the message of faith, the church remains a beacon of hope and guidance in Guthrie.
