The Ohio Historical Markers program, initiated in the 1950s, features approximately 1,750 unique markers that narrate the state's history as told by its communities. Administered by the Community Engagement Department of Ohio History Connection, the program partners with local sponsors to highlight the significant stories of people, places, events, and things that have shaped Ohio and the nation.
In addition to the markers, the program offers grant opportunities to assist with the costs of marker production and installation. The Historical Markers Grant Program and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation provide matching grants to support local efforts in preserving and sharing Ohio's rich historical narrative.
