Strickland's Frozen Custard, founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence Strickland, began as a small ice cream stand in Akron, Ohio, where Bill developed a rich recipe and an innovative batch freezer that limited the air whipped into the product. Today, the original store remains in operation, continuously serving the award-winning ice cream, frozen custard, yogurt, and sorbet crafted by the Strickland family for generations.

In 2002, Strickland's Marketing Corp. was established to expand the brand's reach through franchise opportunities, successfully replicating the rich flavors of the original custard with specially engineered machines.
