Somerford Township is a well-established township located in Madison County, Ohio. With a total area of 29.8 square miles, it is responsible for the maintenance of four cemeteries and fourteen miles of township roads. Since 1972, Somerford Township has been the only township in Madison County with its own zoning regulations, addressing the growing number of zoning issues and concerns through its two five-member Zoning Boards.

Bound by the Clark County line to the west and north, Route 38 on the east, and extending approximately one and a half miles south of U.S. Rt. 40, Somerford Township encompasses the census-designated place of Choctaw Lake and the unincorporated community of Summerford.
