Sisters of St Francis

The Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, Ohio, founded in 1869 by Father Joseph Bihn and Elizabeth Schaefer, are a community rooted in the Gospel and guided by the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare. They continue the mission of Jesus by ministering to the needs of the Church and the people of God, both in rural and urban areas of the U.S. Ohio and Kentucky, as well as in Cuernavaca, Mexico. With a deep concern for the poor, care for creation, peacemaking, and contemplation in action, the Sisters live in a spirit of hospitality, simplicity, and joy, celebrating their dependence on God as their refuge and strength.

The Tiffin Franciscans engage in various ministries, supporting the People of God and strengthening the Catholic faith. They discern the needs of the times and utilize their gifts to serve others, following the words that inspired their founders: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did to me" (Matthew 25:40).
