Ronald Charles, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. With expertise in inflammatory bowel disease, recurrent colon and rectal cancer, and reoperative colorectal surgery, Dr. Charles provides a full range of colon and rectal surgeries, including open and laparoscopic procedures. He is dedicated to improving surgical outcomes and is a member of the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) Operations Committee. Dr. Charles has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to the field and has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations.

Dr. Charles completed his medical education at Weill Cornell Medical College and his residency and research fellowship in general surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He then pursued a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery, specializing in re-operative pelvic surgery for rectal cancer and complex IBD J-pouch surgery. As a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Dr. Charles is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to his patients.
