Progress Through Preservation
Progress Through Preservation of Greater Akron (PTP) is dedicated to promoting and encouraging the preservation, maintenance, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historically and architecturally significant buildings, sites, and neighborhoods in Akron and Summit County. Established in July 1984, PTP was formed in response to urban renewal policies that were transforming cities across the nation, including Akron.
PTP offers its members exclusive access to unique events featuring tours, presentations, and programming focused on the area's historic structures and stories. The organization also manages the Preservation House, a restored former schoolhouse available for social gatherings and meetings, furthering its mission of community engagement and historical appreciation.
