It additionally provides word processing, record maintenance, license plate processing, motor vehicle accident reporting and administrative services. The department handles cases related to identity thefts, speeding complaints, passing bad checks and gunlocks. It also offers dispatching and emergency medical services. The Austintown Township Police District is a part of Austintown Township in Ohio, which also operates fire, zoning, parks and roads departments.

It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department has a detectives division that investigates crime scenes, seizes and analyzes evidence, identifies and speaks to witnesses and victims of crime, recovers stolen property, and identifies and arrests offenders.
