The Museum of Ceramics, which is operated by the Museum of Ceramics Foundation and the Ohio History Connection, houses an extensive collection of the wares produced in the city long known as "America's Crockery City" and "The Pottery Capital of the Nation." Enjoy a 12-minute movie about the Ohio valley pottery industry, then explore 2 floors of exhibits, including life-size dioramas of people working in the potteries. The museum houses the largest public collection of Lotus Ware porcelain. The museum building, formerly a post office, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is closed during January, February, and March except for previously arranged tours.
