Portage County Jail

Portage County Sheriff's Department offers law enforcement and crime prevention services. Its records division documents incident reports and offers them to the concerned agencies and divisions. Located in Ravenna, Ohio, the department maintains a detective bureau that handles investigations of incident reports pertaining to serious crimes. Portage County Sheriff's Department s animal control services include sales of dog licenses, animal adoptions, animal bite investigations and free pickup of stray domestic animals. The department also maintains a jail that can accommodate up to 100 adults and juveniles. Portage County Sheriff's Department additionally operates a dispatch center that provides dispatching and paging services for nearly 15 fire departments, approximately 10 medical service groups and several county and state agencies. The department also offers a variety of safety courses.
