Established in 1972, Gateways to Better Living is a private, nonprofit agency that provides a range of health care solutions for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. It is a fully licensed and certified agency that offers residential and supported living services to more than 140 individuals throughout Mahoning County in Ohio. The agency operates over 10 group homes, as well as organizes several sheltered workshops and training programs. It provides skilled nursing, nutritional assessment, medication administration, psychological testing, psychiatric evaluation, and physical and occupational therapy services. The agency additionally offers crisis intervention, behavioral counseling, meal preparation, laundry, budget planning, money management, personal care and 24-hour on-call services. Gateways to Better Living also conducts various recreational, social and religious activities.
