Hebron Baptist Church
The African Parish House Quilters, established in May 1997 by Barbara Holt Payne and Deborah E. Pinckney, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of quilting within the local African American community. Originally a community outreach of Hebron Baptist Church, the group now operates as a division of the African Parish House Urban Ministries, a nonprofit organization.
Meeting twice a month, the quilters focus on unity through Christian faith and a shared passion for quilting, while also engaging in community service projects. Their initiatives include Project Snuggle, which provides baby quilts for at-risk newborns, and Community Quilting Day, held in October to coincide with Make A Difference Day.
