Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission is one of 50 community action agencies in Ohio. It is a private, nonprofit corporation organized in 1965 as part of the War on Poverty by a group of local citizens. It functions to plan, develop and coordinate programs and services designed to help low-income people in Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding and Williams counties in Ohio. The organization has four major divisions that include emergency services, senior services, child development, and housing and weatherization. Its emergency services division provides services to qualified clients through programs, such as commodity food distribution, services to the homeless and a personal savings program, known as the Individual Development Accounts. Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission is located in Defiance, Ohio.
