The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati tells the story of people who endured slavery and had the courage to seek freedom from their bondage. Their stories began in America in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and continue today in countries around the world. These stories both inspire and educate visitors of all ages.
Best and Worst Time to go to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
The Freedom Center is closed on Mondays, and open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The best time to go is as soon as it opens at 11 a.m. since it gets more crowded in the afternoons and on weekends.

Parking and Public Transportation to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
There is limited parking along the streets near the museum, but the spots fill up fast. You should have no trouble finding parking in nearby parking garages: The Central Riverfront Parking Garage at the Banks, and the Fountain Square Parking Garage. Rates range from under $10 to $16 for all day, unless it's the day of a home game for the Reds or the Bengals. There is public transportation to the Freedom Center via SORTA - Southern Ohio Regional Transit Authority.

Several snack places and eateries are near the Freedom Center since it is located downtown. Plan ahead by getting recommendations before your visit and making reservations.
Insider Tip for Visitors to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
Even though the Freedom Center closes at 5 p.m., you have to get there before 4 p.m. when the last entry is allowed inside. Allow plenty of time to see the museum because even one whole day isn't enough to see everything. Plan on making several visits to the Freedom Center to experience it all.
