Governed by the city of Dayton in Ohio, the Dayton Police Department operates through several divisions that include Administrative Services, Patrol Operations, Professional Standards and Special Investigations. The Administrative Services Division comprise a police records section, bureau of identification, special police licensing, taxi cab enforcement, panhandler registration and more. The Special Investigations Division comprises personnel who have expertise in areas such as homicide, robbery, narcotics, property forfeiture and seizure, forgery and fraud and organized crime/gangs. In its endeavor to reduce crime rates in the city, Dayton Police Department is currently working with community partners to implement the Community Initiative to Reduce Gun Violence.
