Being dual trained in behavioral health and sleep medicine has not only given me the extra tools for a successful treatment outcome, it has also bestowed upon me a responsibility. The responsibility of having a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing or treating any given mental health or sleep disorder. My medication management is somewhat conservative, with institution after careful deliberation, factoring in patient preference, history of medication tolerability, careful titration while looking out for adverse reactions, and regular assessment and reassessment of the condition and need for continued medication management.
