She completed her Bachelor's of Science and Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The Ohio State University. While in dental school she found her love of working with children and continued her education by specializing in Pediatric Dentistry. She then moved to Indianapolis, IN to continue her education at Riley Children's Hospital, Indiana University. At Riley Children's Hospital Dr. Myers obtained her Master's degree in Pediatric Dentistry. While in her residency she was served as chief resident.Dr. Myers is happily married to her husband Phil Myers and they have twin girls that keep them very busy.First VisitOur office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care. The Dental Home is intended to provide a place other than the Emergency Room for parents. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The less to-do concerning the visit, the better. It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as "needle", "shot", "pull", "drill" or "hurt". Children will be anxious at their first visit if their parent is nervous about being at the dentist. The more relaxed you are the better for your child. Our staff uses child friendly terms which are much less intimidating and scary. We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. For children 2 years and under the exam and cleaning is usually completed in the parents and dentists lap. For future visits if you will have the option of staying with your child or waiting in the waiting room. Some children are able to listen and pay attention better if their parent is not in the room and the dentist can give their full attention to your child. It will be your choice whether or not you accompany them back for treatment. Our goal is to make every visit to Springfield Pediatric Dentistry a great one!
