BLACK BOX is a community impact and engagement platform that aims to promote understanding, empathy, and connection through discourse. It consists of five elements, including one-on-one dialogues with a diverse group of 13 black men, a large-scale photo project highlighting the negative connotations associated with the color black, a multi-channel video sharing the perspectives of black males, a podcast featuring complete interviews with participants, and life-sized wheat paste posters. Originally launched in Cincinnati, the project has expanded to New York City with the support of the AwesomeNYC grant.

The ultimate goal of BLACK BOX is to demystify and challenge biases by providing authentic firsthand experiences and fostering education and healing. By creating a safe and intimate space for dialogue, the project aims to make black men more accessible outside of the workplace and play space, promoting positive representation and breaking down stereotypes. Through its various elements, BLACK BOX seeks to create a platform for meaningful conversations and promote a deeper understanding of the experiences and perspectives of black men in America.
