Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, founded in 1939, is a nonprofit organization that provides health care services. Heart of America Medical Center, located in Rugby, N.D., offers a wide variety of health care services and serves more than 13,000 people. It partners with the Johnson Clinic and also offers a health maintenance organization for insurance needs. The agency was established in 1910 by a group of ministers, and it is a nonprofit medical center that is sustained by more than 30 area churches of all denominations, such as the Good Samarian Hospital Association. Heart of America Medical Center offers various medical services, such as hospital services, including more than 30 private rooms, birthing rooms and nurseries, major and minor surgeries, intensive care unit and certified trauma emergency care services.

St. Aloisius Medical Center, in unison with the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation and members of the laity, provides health care. It offers various inpatient facilities, including a 25-bed critical access hospital staffed by licensed nursing personnel 24-hours a day, full range of surgical services, intensive care unit, obstetrics and nursery. It provides outpatient services, such as emergency room available 24-hours, seven-days a week with a physician and licensed nursing staff on call, laboratory for various tests, X-ray, CT scan, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, as well as physical and occupational therapies with licensed therapists, and oncology, ophthalmology and a community resource coordinator who helps the uninsured, under-insured and the poor through various resources. St. Aloisius Medical Center also offers mental health services, as well as provide home health services.
