Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch provide services for at-risk children and their families. It offers a wide range of program and services that include co-educational treatment programs for boys and girls of ages 10 to 18 at Minot Youth Ranch. It offers a more than 60-bed facility that provides program and services for emotional, behavioral and academic difficulties, including addiction, dual diagnosis, sexual offenses and residential treatment programs. Additionally it provides therapeutic riding, a wildlife club, Camp Be a Parent and the National Youth Program. It has a private school for grades seven through 12 that offers special education, such as individual education and treatment plans. Community Actions Opportunities, located in Minot, N.D., is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1975. The organization provides services to more than 50 counties in the region, including services in self-sufficiency, housing, emergency, youth and energy conservation. The self-reliance program assists individuals in taking steps to become self-sufficient through planning, action steps and goal setting. Community action is a certified housing counseling agency. Its counseling programs assist clients in solving housing problems. Community Action, in partnership with the North Dakota Housing Agency, Minot Board of Realtors, area lenders and organization, offers the homebuyer education workshop. This program provides participants with information on the home buying process, such as preparing for home ownership, shopping for a home, obtaining a mortgage, closing, and a life as a homeowner.
