Community Action Program Region VII was incorporated in 1976 to address the effects of poverty and to assist people in becoming self-sufficient. The Program Region VII is a part of Community Action Agencies, established throughout the United States as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. It is governed by a board of directors composed of members from the public, private and low-income sectors of the communities served in Region VII. Community Action Program Region VII administers various programs, including emergency services, assistive equipment, food pantry, self-reliance, money management, housing, energy efficiency, representative payee and volunteer income tax assistance. It also organizes workshops and seminars on topics, including habits, attitudes, beliefs, and comfort zones, alcohol and tobacco use and chemical dependency, media influences, family and codependency, roles, goal setting, self-talk, affirmations, and making changes and goal achievement. Community Action Program Region VII is open Monday through Friday, and is located in Bismarck, N.D.
