Amachi Mentoring Program
Amachi Mentoring Program, rooted in the Nigerian Ibo language, translates to "Who knows but what God has brought us through this child." This program serves youth in the Devils Lake Region of North Dakota, particularly focusing on those with incarcerated parents and other at-risk youth, by providing adult mentors who commit to fostering positive and transformative relationships.
Over the past six years, Amachi has successfully paired 65 youth with mentors, with many relationships extending beyond the initial one-year commitment. The program aims to enhance self-worth, communication skills, social interaction, academic performance, and school attendance, ultimately helping children break generational cycles and reach their full potential.
