Ever since I was tiny - very tiny - I have had a huge passion for health care and health care providers. I was born prematurely and grew up understanding that all of the medical professionals who cared for me in those first precarious weeks truly saved my life. Knowing what they did for a small baby requiring high levels of oxygen for months drove both my interest in medicine and my respect for those who dedicate their careers to serving others in the medical field. I knew I would be honored if I could provide similar care. \n As a certified family nurse practitioner, I have the privilege of serving patients of all ages with a wide variety of ailments. I have worked in oncology and as a hospitalist, allowing me to be part of the healing process and to provide comfort when healing was not possible. Those roles also showed me the importance of being an advocate for each patient, ensuring that patient preferences are considered during every step of care. \n I take a holistic approach to medical care; while I work to use medication and technology to provide the highest level of care possible, I believe the foundation of caring for ourselves is eating healthy, staying active, managing stress and having the support of a community. These things can help prevent disease and achieve health goals. This can reduce the need for medication and other interventions, and lead to a higher quality of life. \n When I am not working or volunteering at a local community clinic serving those unable to afford medical care, I love spending time with my husband. We enjoy traveling, and we are both huge animal lovers. Another shared passion is Corvettes; we are members of a local Corvette club, where we get to participate in social events as well as work with other club members to support a number of local charities. I stay active by lifting weights and doing yoga, and also enjoy cooking for family and friends.

One of the most important aspects of being your primary-care provider is the relationship we build over time. Building trust is important. I view my role in your healthcare as a partner, an educator, a motivator and as a coach. I strive to give you a medical home where you feel knowledgeable and empowered. I consider your personal goals and your values. My approach is collaborative, and I really emphasize education at each visit. \n I want you to leave your visits - or any interaction with me - with peace of mind. I want you to understand the plan of care, understand why the decisions we make together are important and feel your questions have been fully answered. Knowledge is power. I want you to be empowered to improve your quality of life - physically, mentally and emotionally. \n As a lifestyle-medicine certified PA, I focus on looking at all aspects of your lifestyle as a powerful tool in transforming your health. Lifestyle medicine-certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to prevent, treat and - when used intensively - often reverse conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. \n Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine - a whole food, plant-forward eating pattern; physical activity; restorative sleep; stress management; avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections - will help you achieve an improved quality of life and longevity. You can schedule with me for a full lifestyle medicine consultation when you call the office. \n I am a proud family medicine preceptor for High Point University Physician Assistant program, helping to train and educate our next generation of amazing PAs. \n Food is medicine! I have a passion for food and cooking. I enjoy helping my patients discover how food is part of our health promotion and treatment plan, learn new healthy recipes, learn healthy food swaps and even what to look for in the grocery store and on nutrition labels. \n When I am not at the office, you'll find me enjoying nature at home with my family. We love to work in the yard, spend time out on the pond, go creek walking and hiking. \n Novant Health Davie Medical Associates has partnered with Walk with a Doc! You can meet us at the park every 2nd Saturday of the month at Davie County Community Park at 9 am for a brief health education discussion and a walk together! Thriving together in our community is of top priority to me! You can inquire about the details at the office.
