Shumate Massage and Bodywork

History

Emily Shumate has been practicing massage and bodywork therapy since 1998. Between 1998 and 2007 she contracted with multiple physician and chiropractic offices within Wilmington providing medical massage therapy services, Physical therapy aide services and chiropractic assisting, while maintaining a private practice within an alternative medicine co-op. Although Emily's main focus is massage therapy she is also a graduate of Miller Motte College and has worked in dermatology and plastic surgery offices before settling in to orthopaedics for the last 9 years as a clinical assistant. Emily feels blessed to have multiple years experience in both traditional and alternative therapies. Her mission is to use her multidisciplinary background to provide optimal care to her clients. She understands that often times a multiple discipline approach is in the best interest for the client and is eager to work with multiple providers to coordinate the best care for the client.
