Shelby High School

Northwestern High School offers classes from grades nine through 12 and has an enrollment of more than 2,400 students. It offers elective courses in keyboarding applications, accounting, business, child care services, clothing and textiles, and food and nutrition. The school also offers an International Baccalaureate diploma program in English, French and Spanish. Located in Rock Hill, S.C., the school s media center consists of more than 20,000 books, newspapers, over 650 video tapes and nearly 90 magazine subscriptions. It also operates an accelerated reader program that includes computerized tests. Additionally, the school offers a wide variety of clubs and organizations. Its counseling department provides academic, personal and career counseling. Northwestern High School also offers more than 15 sports and over 30 teams of athletes.

Mount Holly Middle School provides academic instruction and enrichment programs to students in grades six through eight. Located in Mount Holly, N.C., the middle school is a part of Gaston County Schools. The school s core curriculum includes English, reading, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, industrial arts, computer applications and family living skills. The middle school offers various sports activities, including basketball, baseball, football, golf, soccer, softball, wrestling, volleyball, and track and field. Mount Holly Middle School has a parent-teacher organization that arranges various cultural and academic events and works to foster cooperative relationships among students, faculty members and parents.
