Both of my parents are in the medical field, and I saw the difference they were able to make in the lives of others while I was growing up. Then, in 1999, my dad broke his neck in a diving accident and witnessing his long recovery inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I chose women's health because it offered the opportunity to provide continuity of care over time, get to know patients on a personal level and support them as they grow their families. \n For me, being able to connect with women and provide support and encouragement during vulnerable times in their lives is very rewarding. I enjoy getting to know my patients, watching their families grow over the years and making what some consider the dreaded visit to the gynecologist less awkward and uncomfortable. \n As a mother myself, I know how personal prenatal and postpartum care can make a woman feel valued and understood.
