Sarah R. Stanley, MS, MHS, PA-C

I am an expert in managing patients with multiple myeloma, amyloidosis and other plasma cell disorders. I have conducted National Institutes of Health (NIH)-supported lab research but now focus my efforts on clinical research in 1) treating multiple myeloma in patients who are at high risk for toxicity due to advanced age or other medical problems, 2) developing novel drugs for treating all patients with multiple myeloma and 3) optimizing management for amyloidosis. I am a member of international working groups that formulate guidelines for treating these disorders, and I have won multiple awards for teaching and research accomplishments.

I wanted a career where I could serve others while being at the forefront of emerging technologies and advancements. My approach to patient care is to provide the best treatment while considering a patient's goals, quality of life and daily activities. I chose head and neck surgery and microvascular reconstruction because it affects people in a very personal way, and there is great opportunity to positively impact one's life. When I am not at work, I like to spend time with family, hike, exercise, cook and travel.

I am a physician specializing in the care of patients with prostate cancer. I also run a research group trying to find new ways to use the immune system to fight cancer. I believe in working with patients and their families and listening to their needs to find the best treatment options for their individual situation. Outside of work, I enjoy running.
