Sarah R. Stanley, MS, MHS, PA-C

I started my career in Internal Medicine out of the Physician Assistant program at Duke. It’s been wonderful to return to my UNC roots. Here, I’ve grown my clinical practice here and have had the pleasure of caring for many wonderful patients along the way. The department of Internal Medicine is a dynamic and caring environment. I feel privileged to be a part of this group.

I decided to become a Physician Assistant because I love working with people to help them lead healthy lives and reach their health goals. I enjoy developing long-term relationships with patients and working with patients to empower them in their health choices. My approach to patient care is a holistic one that understands that a person’s physical health, mental health and social circumstances all impact their well-being. I strive to increase a patient’s understanding of their health and to actively participate in all decisions regarding their healthcare. My special interests involve sexual health, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention, HIV treatment, hepatitis C treatment and tobacco cessation. Outside of work, I enjoy running, tennis, hiking and playing with my dogs.

My clinical interests focus on inflammatory arthropathy, crystal arthropathy, autoimmune connective tissue disease, and osteoporosis. I am passionate about providing the highest level of care for patients while working alongside my supervising physicians at the UNC Rheumatology Specialty Clinic at Carolina Pointe II. I am an active member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).
