History

The city acquired 365 acres of watershed and adopted an ordinance regulating fishing in 1948. Salem Lake became part of the city's Recreation and Parks Department in 1967. The Salem Lake Trail was created on land cleared by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Specialties

Winston-Salem city park with 365-acre lake and a seven-mile walking trail around the lake. Pier and boat fishing, picnic shelters, playground and restrooms. Must be 16 or over with a North Carolina fishing license to fish.

Very nice park. My husband and i always walk the trail and have a great time. The trees give excellent shade and there's always beautiful scenery!
