Piedmont Council of Traditional Music
The Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, known as PineCone, was founded in 1984 by a group of friends with the mission to bring traditional music from the mountains to Raleigh, North Carolina. As a resident company at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, PineCone offers a vibrant array of concerts, jams, workshops, and an annual free street festival, celebrating the rich heritage of NC Piedmont music.
Dedicated to preserving and promoting various traditional music genres, including bluegrass, old-time, blues, and gospel, PineCone also provides educational programs such as youth camps and instructional materials. Through its community-oriented approach, PineCone fosters a love for music while encouraging participation and appreciation among diverse audiences.
