Oscar N. Harris & Associates, P.A is a firm of Certified Public Accountants which provides a complete range of services to include tax, accounting and financial services to a variety of businesses, individuals, and nonprofit organizations in Harnett and surrounding counties in North Carolina and throughout the United States. We are a participant in the peer review program administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The objective of the peer review program is to determine if a CPA firm has suitable quality control policies and procedures for its accounting and auditing practice and is complying with them. Oscar N. Harris & Associates, P.A.'s independent peer reviewers of its accounting and auditing practice have concluded that the firm complies with the stringent quality control standards set by the AICPA. The reviewer's unmodified reports indicate that Oscar N. Harris & Associates, P.A measures up to the highest levels of standards, quality and professionalism within the accounting profession. Our objective of providing quality service to clients and our concern for the general public interest has established our reputation throughout the community and has enabled us to grow through internal expansion since the founding of our practice in 1978 by the firm president, Oscar N. Harris, CPA. Corporations, professionals, partnerships and proprietors from virtually every segment of industry, including nonprofits, comprise our client roster. We have an established internship program with Campbell University and other area schools whereby qualified accounting majors can, as positions become available, intern with our firm and gain firsthand experience in their field of study.

Our firm S. Preston Douglas opened its accounting practice in Lumberton, North Carolina, on December 1, 1941, under the name of S. Preston Douglas, Certified Public Accountant. According to the December 7, 1941, Sunday edition of the local newspaper, Mr. Douglas was the only Certified Public Accountant residing in Robeson County or the adjoining counties of Hoke, Cumberland, Bladen, and Columbus. For the previous eight years, he had been a member of a Charlotte accounting firm which he represented in Lumberton. He was forty years old at the time he opened his Lumberton office. On January 1, 1961, Mr. Douglas formed a partnership with four of his staff CPAs. The original partners of S. Preston Douglas & Associates were Preston Douglas, Stephen "Pete" Shaw, Bonnor Hudson, Joseph Lineberry, and Drew Mills. Mr. Douglas died on July 9, 1965. The business has operated continuously as a partnership from 1961 until today. In 1995, the partnership became a Registered Limited Liability Partnership and thus the "LLP" designation at the end of our name. On November 22, 1963, the partnership bought the Elizabethtown accounting practice of John Liles and opened its Elizabethtown office. In July of 1979, the firm opened an office in Whiteville, North Carolina. Expanding to three offices has allowed our firm to satisfactorily serve the accounting needs of southeastern North Carolina for over forty years. Our firm has a rich heritage of which we are most proud. Many of our firm's former staff and partners would represent a "Who's Who" of CPAs in North Carolina over the last fifty years. Call us.
