The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is an independent, locally managed, nonprofit community blood bank. It provides blood to several hospitals in North Carolina and South Carolina. The center supplies blood to patients suffering from cancer and heart diseases, as well as those who have undergone transplants or have met with an accident. The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is a member of America's Blood Centers, which is a group of more than 75 affiliated blood centers. The center serves residents in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Union, Cleveland, Lincoln, Iredell, Rowan and Anson counties in North Carolina. It also serves citizens of York, Chester and Lancaster counties in South Carolina.
