The Ocracoke Preservation Society (OPS) is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on preserving the rich historical and cultural heritage of Ocracoke Island. Their museum features a collection of historical items, a research library, and special exhibits that change annually, alongside a gift shop supporting their mission.

OPS hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including art auctions, children's programs, festivals, and seasonal celebrations like the Wassail party and historical house tours. Through these initiatives, they aim to engage the community and visitors alike in appreciating and supporting the island's unique legacy.

Neat little museum and gift shop on Ocracoke. Suggested donation is $5/child .. $10/adult. We spent a bit of time here checking out the history of Blackbeard and other things local to Ocracoke.
