The North Carolina Black Repertory Company, founded in 1979, is the state's first professional Black Theatre Company. Through their diverse programming, they engage, enrich, and entertain audiences by sharing stories from the African Diaspora, redefining social perceptions of Black Culture on a global scale.

With a mission to continue exposing diverse audiences to Black theatre, the NC Black Rep presents classic and new work, provides educational opportunities for the next generation of theatre-makers, and sustains Black Theatre through their world-renowned outreach program, the International Black Theatre Festival.
