A desire to help people make good health choices and live the lives they desire led me to my career in medicine. Family medicine allows me to practice continuity of care and build wonderful, lasting relationships with my patients. \n I strive to help patients prevent injuries, chronic medical diseases and acute conditions that can alter their lives. \n Sports medicine - specifically, concussion management - is a passion of mine. I love helping young athletes get back to the activities they enjoy following an injury. My other areas of clinical interest are women's health and mental health. \n My professional motto is: Listen to your patients. Be the best advocate you can be for them. And help them get back to doing the things they love. Through shared decision making, my patients and I create individualized plans based on their preferences and daily routines. \n I treat patients as if they are my own family members as I work to establish long-term, trusting relationships with them. I strive to create a comfortable environment and to ensure each patient's concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately. \n I grew up in the Detroit area and stayed in Michigan for undergraduate and medical school. \n I moved to Charlotte for my residency and then did a fellowship in sports medicine. During my fellowship year, I served as assistant team physician for Catawba College and as the team physician for Jay M. Robinson Middle School varsity and junior varsity football teams. I also helped provide coverage for multiple sporting events, including the North Carolina state high school wrestling and track championships, Charlotte Arena Football games and Charlotte Football Club games. \n My husband, son and I live in Holly Springs, North Carolina. In my free time, I love to do anything outdoors - especially hiking, biking and tennis. I also love travel and make spending time with family and friends a priority.

Family medicine appeals to me because I enjoy building relationships with patients across the spectrum of ages and medical concerns. Sports medicine appeals to me because I like taking care of active individuals who want to improve their quality of life, on- or off-the-field performance and general well-being. \n As an athlete myself - I used to be an avid triathlete - I love connecting with other sports-minded individuals. It's a joy and an honor to combine both family and sports medicine into my medical practice. \n I'm committed to providing comprehensive, high-quality, evidence-based primary care for all ages. I take a patient-centered approach and place a big emphasis on the physician-patient relationship. I care for acute and chronic medical conditions with a primary focus on health and wellness. \n With my additional sports medicine training, I can provide care for non-operative musculoskeletal conditions, concussion and pre-participation sports physicals, as well as ultrasound-guided joint and tendon procedures when clinically indicated. My goal is simply to help patients achieve their personal best - regardless of what field they are in or on. \n My experience as an Army doctor has made me a well-rounded provider. I treated our soldiers, their families and military veterans for a wide variety of conditions. \n My wife and I have three grown children. I still enjoy pushing myself physically and participate in organized endurance events occasionally. But I predominantly cycle and do resistance training to stay in shape. I've always enjoyed being outdoors, specifically for a hike or a day of kayaking on the lake. I'm always up for a day trip somewhere and will typically explore the area on foot before ending the day at a local brewery.
