Carocon Corp

History Carocon was incorporated in July 1972 for the purpose of providing construction-related services to real estate developers and owners. The original stockholders were Trammel Crow, Mack Pogue, William Cooper and John Huson. The headquarters of the Company was established in Charlotte, North Carolina, with branch offices in Tampa, Florida and Wilmington, North Carolina. In October 1974, the Wilmington office was closed and those operations were consolidated into the Charlotte office. In the spring of 1975, the Company sold its operation in Florida and phased out its activities in that State. Since that time, the Company has limited its construction activities to the Carolinas, but has performed construction management services in other states. Carocon has made a specialty of the construction and development management of frame buildings. Though emphasizing multi-family rental and condominium housing developments, the Company has also built small office, school, and motel buildings. It has also acted as a construction manager and as a contractor to complete unfinished developments for mortgagees. Most of the Company's work is done on a negotiated basis with private developers where Carocon provides budgets, schedules and plan reviews during the pre-construction process. The Company has also successfully competitively bid projects. Usually these are for public agencies. In past years, the Company has undertaken several large rehabilitation jobs. These have been competitively bid projects for Public Housing Authorities. Carocon has, for 37 years, successfully worked for a select group of Developers in the specialized field of multi-family residential construction. By limiting its efforts to the Carolinas, Carocon has been able to develop relationships with an experienced group of subcontractors and suppliers. Knowledge of the local municipal agencies and their practices minimizes problems and delays.
