History

The Johnson family bought the pier in 1969 from the Johnnie Mercer family and have been the owners since then. It once was a wooden pier until the hurricanes of 96 came through and destroyed the pier. It was then the vision of Bob Johnson, to create a state of the art pier built out of concrete to withstand the test of mother nature. Mr. Johnson passed away shortly after it reopened and it is now operated by his son, Matt Johnson, who grew up working and fishing on it with his dad.
