3070 Memorial Hwy # 7
Lake Lure, NC 28746
About 25 miles east of Asheville, NC is the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. Originally built in 1925, the bridge was decommissioned in 2010. The Lake Lure community wanted to save the beautiful bridge structure which is supported by three graceful arches and lined with balustrades. Out of a town meeting, the idea of a flowering pedestrian bridge was born, and the LLFB was officially dedicated in October 2013. There is something for everyone at the LLFB. The majority of gardens are wheelchair accessible, and an audio sensory trail enhances the experience for the visually impaired. Furry friends are always welcome, and a likeness of the imagined Rainbow Bridge offers pet owners the opportunity to leave a collar/tag as a constant reminder of the pet they lost. The LLFB s a 501(c)(3) nonprofit totally funded by donations and grants; the gardens are tended by a team of volunteers. The LLFB is open 24x7, 365 days a year and always free.
